Extremadura/Sevilla
A painter is at the heart of this project: Zurbaran, who is sometimes called "el pintor del misticismo", so inhabited are his characters.
His life well sums up the journey from Extremadura to Sevilla. Indeed, he was born in 1598 in a poor village near Badajoz in the province of Extremadura and was sent to Sevilla to learn his trade as a painter.
At that time the Andalusian city was at its peak and people kept saying: "Quien no ha visto Sevilla, no ha visto maravilla". It is true that with the establishment within its walls of trade with the New World and the marriage of Charles V, the city enjoyed incredible cultural prestige in the 16th and 17th centuries.
The project is inspired by this contrast: the mother land of Estremègna and the golden age of Seville.
